Affiliate links
The short version
Some links on Empyrean Roots are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the seller. It never changes the price you pay, and it never decides what we feature.
Some links support the table we’re building, at no cost to you.
How it works
When a retailer, brand or bookstore has an affiliate program, they give us a special link to their site. If you buy through that link, they pay us a small percentage of the sale. The price is the same whether you use our link or go to their site on your own.
Those commissions help pay for the site, NOTES and the time it takes to find and share the makers we feature.
Who we work with
Right now that includes Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores, and brands we reach through affiliate networks like Awin. We also link to makers, studios and retailers directly. This list grows as we add partners, and we’ll keep this page up to date.
How we choose what to feature
- We pick the piece, the maker or the book first. Whether there’s an affiliate program comes second, if at all.
- Black makers, designers and businesses come first.
- Plenty of what we feature has no affiliate link at all. We share it because it’s good.
- No one pays to be included in our edits, Shop the Space rooms or the Home Library.
What we sell vs. what we link to
A few pieces are sold by Empyrean Roots directly. Most are sold by the makers and retailers we link to. When you buy from them, their prices, shipping, returns and customer service apply. Our Terms & Services has more on that.
Sponsored content
If a brand ever pays us to feature something, we’ll say so right on it with a “Sponsored” or “Presented by” label. That’s separate from affiliate links.
Cookies
Affiliate links use cookies so the seller knows a sale came from us. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
How our images are made
Most product photos come straight from the makers and brands we feature. Some of our room scenes and campaign images, like the Shop the Space rooms, are created digitally. Depending on the image, that can mean 3D rendering and design software (some of which has AI-assisted features built in) or generative AI image tools.
Either way, the products in them are real pieces from the makers and brands we name, and we work to show them as they actually look. Digitally made images are labeled where they appear. If a piece arrives looking different from how we showed it, let us know.
Our room views aren’t made to sell a product. They’re there to help you imagine what’s possible in a space. That’s why every piece in them is linked to its own product page, with real photos, sizes, materials and details, so you know exactly what you’re getting before you buy.
